GS1 International is a voluntary, world-wide not-for-profit
Association with Member National Organizations in 108
countries.
After join together with EAN (European Article Numbering) and the
UCC (Uniform Code Council) Systems the International Association of
Article Numbering EAN International, had got a
new name which mostfully reflects current position of Association in a world
business. A new name Global Standards One (GS1) - directly tells about using single collaborative global standards by more than million companies members of GS1. GS1 manages the system of international multi-industrial article numbering and bar code standards, allowing identifi-cation and transmission of the information about products, services, organization, transport items and even addresses. GS1 had developed system of numbers which guarantee unique identification of products and services. These numbers provide common language by which manufacturers, exporters, importers, wholesalers and retailers may transfer information about their products or services at the single EAN.UCC System. GS1 International and article numbering organizations mission is to lead the future development of global multi -industrial system of identification and communication for products and services, based on standards globally accepted and developed according to consumers requirements. GS1 Azerbaijan is a member of international community At the EAN General Assembly held in Berlin on May 11, 1999 the EAN-Azerbaijan (soon to be GS1 Azerbaijan) was unanimously accepted as the member of EAN-International and was allocated by 476 prefix, which allows conduction of unique database. It means that all products identification numbers starting form these digits are introduced and registered in GS1 Azerbaijan according to the international rules. Only the Community of GS1 Azerbaijan has authority to use EAN and GS1 trademarks in Azerbaijan. GS1 Azerbaijan is competent member of International Association and represents interests of enterprises and organizations in Azerbaijan. Also provides application and development of GS1 International system at national level carries out registration of the enterprises and assigns the enterprises by appropriate coded numbers. Any enterprise, not only Azerbaijanian, irrespective of its sizes or ownership patterns which makes or realizes products with its own trade mark may become a member of GS1 Azerbaijan. |
